Hello, folks! I am so excited to join this knitalong. It's high time I reread the books (since I do own just about every one of LMM's novels- they're just sitting collecting dust at the moment).

I'm not sure if this specific link is in suggested links, but it may be of use for finding "authentic" period patterns, should you be in need: Antique Pattern Library. They have pdfs of books that are out of copyright, thanks to a dedicated group of people who have scanned them and verified the copyrights. In particular, they have some great military patterns from WWI and some lovely crocheted and knitted tablecloth ideas.

Am I crazy for wanting to make a tablecloth or counterpane?

Hello, everyone!
First I want to thank Khadijha Caitlin for sharing this wonderful idea & Anna for adding it to the Ravelry site, or else I would have never found you all.
I discovered Anne as an adult, after seeing the movie on tv all those years ago; I read the books a couple of years later, while staying home with my youngest child. I've become a huge fan of LMM & have most of her other books, but not the Anne Series. I think it's high time to re-read them.
I took up knitting again about three years ago & I'm looking forward to some inspiration from Anne & her circle of kindred spirits.
BTW- could someone help me post one of the buttons on my Blogger page?

I have all the Anne books in English, all except Rainbow Valley in German, (Alas! Can't find that one in German!) and even Windy Willows - the original of Windy Poplars, which was deemed "too graphic" for the American publisher. (Miss Tomgallon's stories are a bit 'Jucier') I've read all of then, in both languages, several times. Plus I have just about all the other LMM books, including her journals and pen pal correspondence. Can we say "addict"?

If any of you don't have the books yet, many of them are available for download free on the Gutenburg Project's website. This is a great resource if you read literature on your Palm Pilot or Blackberry. I always like to have a book or two on there for times I have to wait for an appointment and don't have my knitting bag with me.

The Anne of Green Gables series are such wonderful books and full of references to knitting. So whats a knitter to do but start a knit/read along!
The Reading Schedule is as follows ~

October: Anne of Green Gables & Anne of Avonlea

November: Anne of the Island & Anne of Windy Poplars

December: Anne's House of Dreams & Anne of Ingleside

January: Rainbow Valley & Rilla of Ingleside

There will be a prize for the best Anne themed knitted item. Knitter's Choice on what you'll make.

Good Morning!

I was on a little trip to the mountains last week and stopped beforehand to pick up the first Anne book. Oh exciting! I did so love this book when I was younger. When I told my daughter about this KAL, I think it almost made her want to pick up needles. What will everyone be knitting? I have yet to decide...

Another intro

Hi everyone-

I'm so excited to join this KAL. I love the Anne books so any opportunity for a re-read is great!

I actually joined another Anne KAL earlier this summer but my project was rudely interrupted and delayed by a thief who broke into my car and made off with all my knitting! So I was not able to finish my project in time for that KAL and decided I would repurpose my project for this one. So I've already knit a little bit of it, but am putting the rest on hold until we start up in October. It's a pullover on very tiny stitches so I think it'll be taking a while to finish regardless.

Looking forward to starting up and seeing what everyone else is making!

Introduction

Hello Anne-friends!

I found your sister group on Ravelry and was excited to discover you. Lucy Maud Montgomery was a prominent figure in literature during my growing years, both because my mother loved her books and because she's Canadian. (I've been living in the States in recent years and have been surprised that Anne isn't nearly as prominent a figure to people here.) My sister read me Anne of Green Gables when I was a little girl, and I read all the Anne books as I got older.

I've read Anne of Green Gables to my kids, and my 9 year old daughter is now reading Anne of Avonlea to herself. My 12 year old son will listen if it's being read aloud, but is too busy reading fantasy novels and being a boy to actually read them himself.

I've made a redheaded dolly that we named Anne, but we gave her a distinct personality. I have thought about making vintage Anne clothes for her, and perhaps that's something I'll do as part of the knit-along. You can meet Anne here.

Hello Everyone!

Just stopping by to say hello. I'm really excited to begin this challenge as I've been wanting to read the series again for some time. For this challenge I will be crocheting instead of knitting as I just haven't quite mastered knitting yet. I need to start thinking about my first project.
I noticed that many have asked about getting the books. I recently found the books from Montgomery's Emily series at my local used bookstore and I saw the Anne series as well so you might check places like that.

This is going to be so much fun and I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone creates.

I am so thrilled to be part of this KAL. I've been waiting for ages for a good excuse to read these books again, and what can be better than when it comes along with a license to knit as well!

I am still trying to track down hard copies of the books. When I read them as a child I borrowed them from the library. My current library does not have them! So, I'm still looking, but I understand that you can find them online as well, so I'm not overly worried. I am so looking forward to reading them again.

As for what to knit, I have a small confession to make. I have already chosen, and already started, my project for the KAL. (I did clear it with Caitlin first though!) I am a very slow knitter, and I want to be able to enjoy the knitting as well as the reading. If you go to my blog you can see the tender beginnings of what will eventually become a shawl. I hope that this is ok with all of you.

I'm so happy to be ap part of this Knit & Read Along, can't wait to start reading the books again...
It's been a very long time ago since I've read the books (I was 8 or 9 years old, so it must been 21 years ago), but I still remember them and know that I loved the books all the way!
Well, anyway, my name is Annemieke (pronounce it as Annamika), but most of the time people call me Anne. I'm from The Netherlands and I'm really looking forward to get to know you all a little bit more!

I completely forgot to introduce myself until now, sorry about that. I'm Bridget, and my knitting blog is The Ravell'd Sleave. I'm also the person who is coordinating the Second Wave Clapotis Knitalong - please join us if you are interested! (I can't believe the number of people signing up, by the way. Who knew so many people were interested in a single pattern??)

Anyway.

I'm so pleased to be part of this KAL! I have to admit that I have never read any of the books, so this will be a treat for me. I did love the PBS adaptation a few years back, and have Prince Edward Island on my list of places I would like to visit. So far, it's the only one of the Maritime Provinces I haven't seen, and so I'm determined to get there someday.

I have absolutely no idea what I will knit for this KAL, but I figure that once I start reading, a lot of possibilities will present themselves. Thanks to Caitlin for organizing this one!

I'm very excited to be in this knit along - i have no idea what I will knit, but I love Anne of Green Gables and I'm excited to read the books. I love the movies but I have never read the books. I've had them for years, but never got around to reading them.

ADDITION: Can anyone give me a suggestion about what would be an appropriate project that is mentioned in the books?

I am very excited about this Read/Knit Along. I love Anne of Green Gables and have the entire set of books. What a great way to reread them! Glad I saw this before it began. I am still not sure what I will be knitting. Either these knee high socks or a shawl of some sort.

Anyway, glad to be here, and I can't wait to get started.

Hi all! I am very excited to begin this activity! I am from California, and have always enjoyed the Anne books. I can't wait to get started. So much so, that I am going out today to get yarn! I am so excited to be a part of this project. I am doing a reading club and a knitting club at the school where I "teach", and this is an awesome way to combine the two!
